Job Summary
The Technology Organization (TO) Business Excellence Director is responsible for cross-functional technology management capabilities that enable well-run technology business functions. The director leads the following TO business functions and teams: Risk and Compliance Management, Strategic Supplier Management and Service Management Office. Some of the key capabilities include risk management, technical change management, knowledge management, TO performance management, financial management, strategic supplier management, and early-career talent management.
The director partners with leaders across TO ensuring the organization is run effectively by managing risk, optimizing external spend and managing the IT (Information Technology) service management processes. The ideal candidate embraces a collaborative mindset and possesses the strategic vision to elevate TO’s performance and propel the company’s vision of building the future of energy.
This position reports to the Vice President of Technology Services.
Major Job Responsibilities
Provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing TO business function strategies that enhance the value and services provided by TO and Technology Services
Lead and develop a team of leaders ensuring services, expertise and capabilities provided by the team elevate TO’s performance, and propel the company’s vision of building the future of energy
Risk and Compliance - provide risk and compliance services to ensure the effective performance of TO
Strategic Supplier Management - develop an ecosystem of suppliers to assist the TO with delivery and services to the business while optimizing costs, reducing risk and ensuring high quality
Service Management Office – develop and track metrics ensuring TO is delivering value to the business and ensure continual improvement of IT service management processes
Early-Career Talent Management – establish and oversee an early-career talent management program that creates a pipeline and development program infusing TO with more early-career talent

Ability to strategically equip the organization with the appropriate technology, skills, and processes to support the transforming industry and business
Exhibits transformational leadership skills with a proven track record of challenging the status quo
Sophisticated change management capabilities, including the ability to lead and manage through change. Should be recognized as a change agent
Outstanding credibility and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships within the company and industry, as well as with vendors/suppliers

Team player with a collaborative approach to drive solutions for the good of Southern Company
Ability to operate successfully in a regulated environment with an understanding and appreciation of risk, compliance, corporate policy and procedures, internal controls, and regulatory requirements

Recognized as an outstanding people manager with the ability to delegate responsibility effectively, the individual should have well-defined core values and a reputation for conveying them clearly and uniformly

Excellent customer service skills that exhibit initiative and follow-through to meet customer commitments
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field. Advanced degree highly desirable
10 or more years of experience in IT or business, 5 or more years of IT management experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of information technology
Experience working across functions managing IT risk, strategic management of suppliers or driving ITIL services lifecycle such as incident, problem, change and request fulfilment
