JOB SUMMARY

The Experience team is responsible for expressing the brand in 150 events per year for the company, including internal events such as executive forums and board meetings, and external events such as the annual meeting of stockholders, corporate sponsorships and special events.

The Experience group sits within Corporate Communication and serves internal clients from Georgia Power, Southern Company and Southern Company Gas. The team works with hundreds of vendors to execute experiences and events, and is responsible for budgeting, payment and tracking of costs. The Experience Manager personally manages 50 events per year while supervising a team of two Event Planners (direct reports) and an Administrative Assistant.

As a leader on the Brand Team and a key contact for senior level executives, the ideal candidate will be confident, creative, results-focused, flexible, detail-oriented and unflappable, as well as great at building relationships. Along with providing traditional event management skills from beginning to end - including registration, banquet, accommodations, A/V production, premiums and post critique – the Experience Manager is expected to bring new and fresh ideas to our events to represent the brand and set a positive, professional tone for high-profile programs and key company initiatives.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, manage and execute major corporate events, outings and guest experiences for a wide range of internal and executive clients, as well as organizations within Georgia Power, Southern Company and Southern Company Gas (50%)

• Manage, support and collaborate with two full-time event planners (direct reports) and administrative assistant (part-time contractor) (20%)

• Plan key elements of hospitality and guest experiences in support of PGA TOUR sponsorship and TOUR Championship events (15%)

• Negotiate and manage supplier contracts (entertainment, food and beverage, accommodations, speakers, gifts, etc) (5%)

• Manage meeting and event budgets and process invoices and expenses (5%)

• Provide best-in-class customer service to internal clients. Externally, represent the company in a first class manner. (5%)

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

• BA or similar experience in event management or related field

• 7 years experience in experiential marketing through event planning or hospitality business

• Ability to manage multiple events and meet or exceed client expectations, on time and on budget

• Prior management experience (with direct reports) is preferred

• Proven organizational, project management and time management skills

• Strong communication skills (written and oral)

• Experience working with senior level executives preferred

• Track record of proactive problem-solving, thinking on one’s feet and the ability to maintain composure at all times

• Enthusiasm for new ideas, awareness of industry trends, and the ability to bring a creative eye to high profile events

• Proficient computer skills, excel, MS word, power point and on line registration systems

• Proficient budget management skills, as well as ability to negotiate contracts and rates and process vendor invoices

• Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred
