Liability Claims Adjuster I or II
Description
The purpose of this position is to manage and resolve high exposure general liability, automobile and other claims involving alleged bodily injury and property damage, subrogation and contractor indemnification opportunities for the company. In addition to claims resolution this position also includes various duties involving data analytics and companywide training regarding casualty claims.
This position may be filled as Senior Liability Claims Adjuster or Liability Claims Adjuster. Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education, and certifications may be eligible for the more advanced position.
This position will set in Naperville, IL or Atlanta, GA area.
This position follows a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to be in the office three (3) days per week.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES BY COMPETENCY
Functional Expertise:
Processes high exposure motor vehicle, liability and casualty claims, researches and gathers relevant information; evaluates claim validity; negotiates claims within a prescribed authority limit to ensure equitable and timely settlements; and communicates with involved parties.
Prepares and submits initial reports and tracks actions taken, claim developments and status of assigned claims.
Submits administrative reports as required.
Pursues third parties to recover damage to company vehicles.
Responsible reporting and compliance functions, including state agency Self-Administration reports and federal Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act (“MMSEA”) requirements.
Business Acumen:
Develops and utilizes innovative claim resolution strategies and investigative techniques.
Identifies appropriate resources within Field Operations, Corporate Security and other departments to evaluate the merits and value of claims.
Participates in or provides input to large loss reviews.
Involves Business Units to facilitate business to business resolution of claims and tenders where appropriate.
Engagement:
Coordinates the work of outside vendors (e.g., independent adjusters, investigators, appraisers) to ensure quality efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Represents the company as a technical resource and attends legal proceedings as needed.
Coordinates with Claims Director and the Legal Department regarding the status and strategy of pending claims involving potentially significant exposure or risk of litigation.
Conducts trainings to educate Business Units on claim reporting and initial investigation techniques.
Driving Results:
Manages claims to minimize the overall cost to the company and maximize recovery for damage to company property, facility or equipment.
Serves as resource to other casualty claims adjusters to confirm adherence to Best Practices and Department Processes and Procedures.
Utilizes Business Objects reports to identify trends in claims.
