Southern Company Manager, Scheduling in Atlanta, Georgia
Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities by Competency
Will personally manage the scheduling of natural gas inherent in SouthStar’s day to day trading activities and coordinate activities among direct reports to ensure 100% scheduling accuracy across all five scheduling cycles within the gas day.
Coordinate and manage coverage for late nomination cycle as well as weekend duty coverage among team to provide equitable workload and maintain 100% scheduling accuracy.
Responsible for coordinating the input of scheduling data into the ETRM system to accurately track movement of gas to ensure the proper costing to each SouthStar market segment.
Will establish constant dialog with Director of Gulf Coast Trading and Director of Mid-Continent Trading. This dialog will allow the free flow of market intelligence such that both traders and schedulers will understand the everchanging market fundamentals impacting each market in which SouthStar participates
Must identify any inefficiencies in current front office scheduling activities and work with direct manager to implement necessary changes to improve workflow and effectiveness.
Will work with mid office to ensure timely data entry as well as full compliance with all federal and state tariffs and FERC guidelines that SouthStar is subject to.
Must work with back office and Manager of Volume and Trade actualization to ensure all activity is properly accounted for in the ETRM system.
Manage the scheduling process to mitigate SouthStar’s exposure to penalties and incentives associated with the movement of gas to markets.
Properly staff and train scheduling group to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensure that front office as well as retail operations personnel have all scheduling data necessary to prepare invoices and forecast future periods.
Required: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related discipline
Related Work Experience:
Required: Five years' of experience in natural gas or power trading / scheduling environment
Preferred: Seven years' experience in natural gas or power trading / scheduling environment with management experience
Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
Specific Skills & Knowledge:
Working knowledge of US natural gas pipeline grids and interplay between
Working understanding of a retail gas marketer and the trading / scheduling function therein
Working knowledge of ETRM systems and importance of that tool
Thorough understanding of national retail choice markets, including Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland and Illinois
High level of expertise with Endur ETRM
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
This position requires 5-20% travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stays away from home for one or more nights
This position occasionally requires prolonged standing or walking
This position occasionally requires incumbent to reach above shoulder level
The position occasionally requires incumbent to bend, kneel, crouch or crawl
This position requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds
