The Distributed Generation (“DG”) Project Coordinator manages the installation of primarily solar projects through Georgia Power’s DG programs, which are designed to procure energy from renewable projects up to 3 MW in size. The successful candidate will be responsible for DG project implementation and managing long-term power purchase agreements. This position works with large and diverse teams across various departments within GPC and externally to successfully implement DG projects from initial customer contact through interconnection and billing. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain an active knowledge of industry trends.


  1. Serve as a project manager and primary interface for power purchase agreements (PPAs) to ensure third party developers maintain requirements necessary to fulfill PPA obligations. Also serves to ensure internal departments are responding in a timely fashion so that projects meet constructions schedules.

  2. Effectively communicate regular updates of project schedule, cost, and other matters to customers/developers and to internal partners (for accounting purposes and solar program reporting). Solve complex problems regarding DG program participation, contracting, and interconnection.

  3. Ensure high quality of work, attention to detail, and high level of external effectiveness – provide input on quality control improvements, program enhancements, software programs, etc.

  4. Assist DG team leadership with general support of renewable programs including accurately tracking DG projects/spend, assisting with program communication, preparing documents, updating processes, and more


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business preferred with additional consideration given for master’s degree and industry certifications

  • 2 or more years’ experience in project management, leading project teams, working directly with customers, managing contracts, contract administration and/or economic evaluations is preferred

  • Experience in electric utility Power Delivery, Generation, or Renewable Development preferred but not required

  • Experience in the areas of solar/renewable generation preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven or demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge in the areas of customer service, metering, project management, and regulatory compliance

  • Ability to learn program guidelines, PPA, and Interconnection Agreement documentation for proper execution and administration of program requirements.

  • Knowledge of power delivery systems as well as distribution/transmission design requirements, operations, practices, and procedures are preferred

  • Proven track record of demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills around complex issues

  • Experience managing multiple projects and leading cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing priorities

  • Experience in effectively interacting with both external and internal stakeholders

  • Highly motivated and flexible with a strong attention to detail

  • Work independently and in an organized manner without direct supervision

  • Strong computer skills including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Knowledge of various company information tools (CSS, CIT, DistView, JETS, etc.) desired

  • Valid driver's license is required; position requires travel throughout the state visiting project sites
