JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing leadership and management for the Connectivity and Workforce Tools department in Infrastructure Services. This department partners with Telecom Services, Network Services, Infrastructure Operations, Field Operations, Technology Tools, Power Delivery portfolios, TO Security, and other departments to ensure that we provide the tools, solutions, and support needed to align with current and future needs.
This position will be responsible for that includes the following:
Manage the staff of systems and solutions analysts who support network, transport and operations systems, tools, and solutions.
Manage the staff supporting the Field Operations’ workforce hardware and software-based tools, reporting and mobile communications in support of Southern Company’s Technology Organization Infrastructure. These components include but are not limited to: Automated Resource Management System (ARMS), Data Analytics, reporting, location services and field workforce optimization tools.
Manage the staff supporting Network Services and Telecom Services tools, solutions, reporting, and automations. This includes but is not limited to: tool support for device management and monitoring including Megasys Telenium, Micro Focus Network Automation, CA Performance Center, management tools for Nokia, Ciena, Adtran, SEL, APCON, and Orbit devices; provide user support for Orbit Remote Configuration Automation (ORCA) and Infoblox IPAM.
Lead the team in providing tool and solution support including participating (and sometimes leading) in product selection, design, testing, training, implementation, data analysis, reporting, product roadmap, licensing, documentation, access control, compliance, and automation opportunities.
Evaluate performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, diagnose and resolve gaps and issues, and continuously improve the level of support.
Ensure sufficient depth of support across the tools and solutions.
Optimize support by understanding and balancing risk, cost, complexity, efficiency, and stakeholder needs.
Partner with the departments supported to get the most out of existing investments (leveraging tools optimally), explore advanced features like AIOps, and automate more and well.
Participate on projects representing the interests of the departments supported including Service Monitoring, Infrastructure Services Asset Management, and other organizational efforts.
Act as an escalation point for questions and concerns related to tools and solutions.
Oversee the Technology Organization’s Location Tiering program, which includes processes and solutions related to prioritization of locations/sites and devices.
Serve in on-call rotation as Escalation Manager for escalating incidents.
The Connectivity and Workforce Tools leader reports to the Manager of Infrastructure Process Tools & Automation and is responsible for overseeing the work of approximately 8 IT professionals (employees and supplemental workforce) across various geographic locations.

Provides cost-effective management, rationalization and simplification of the company’s processes, technologies, systems and projects within the department scope.
Enforces appropriate IT policies, best practices, processes, systems and technology portfolio and lifecycle management, and program and project management.
Assesses the impact of infrastructure changes and quantifies the risk in order to ensure the appropriate business decisions are made.
Acts as a student of the business and technology, anticipating futures needs and directional shifts in both technology and energy industries.
Continuously monitors and evaluates the operating model and supporting organizational design to identify efficiencies and synergies and ensure efficient resource allocation.
Creates an organizational budget and manages financial performance.
Hires, develops, rewards, retains, and provides performance feedback for a highly qualified and diverse team.
Creates an environment that fosters accountability, innovation and engagement at all levels.
Establishes themselves as a thought leader and integral part of the Infrastructure Services leadership team.
EDUCATION
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Eight (8) or more years of experience in the technology field.
Proven experience successfully leading teams is required.
Prior experience in a leadership position is strongly desired but not required.
Substantial knowledge of network or telecommunications management and monitoring tools and applications is strongly preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of information technology and technology environments, in one or more of the following areas: software development, application integration, enterprise architecture, platforms, servers, or middleware.
