Land Engineering Mapping Team Leader

Please Note: You will be required to be IN the Office a minimum of four (4) days per week (Currently Mon thru Thur) @ 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA and/or as required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Team Leader position will be responsible for planning and supporting Land Engineering mapping activities. Responsibilities will include providing leadership, oversight, and performance management to a team of office survey specialists and CAD Technicians. This position will provide coaching to each member of the team, seeking to develop the employees’ skills for current responsibilities and future opportunities. The Team Leader is also accountable for Quality Assurance/Quality Control for mapping deliverables.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • College level degree preferred. High school diploma required (with vocational / technical education a plus).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to lead diverse groups with differing objectives toward a common goal.

  • Must possess strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to develop and train others.

  • Proven risk assessment skills and sound judgment/decision making skills are essential.

  • Must demonstrate excellent collaboration skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to act promptly.

  • Georgia Professional Land Surveyor license preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with knowledge mapping and land surveying practices. Experience with Georgia Power Company specific surveying and mapping requirements is a plus.

  • Experience with project management and/or coordination preferred.

  • Survey-related CAD experience a plus.

  • Experience with performance management is preferred.

  • Knowledge of land surveying, mapping, design, acquisition and construction work processes related to transmission lines, distribution lines and substations is a plus.

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and able to be productive, decisive and efficient in periods of short time constraints and resource limitations.

  • Ability to read and interpret land rights, property maps, construction drawings, and legal documents.

  • Knowledge of Carlson data collection software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcView, and PLS-CADD.

  • Understanding of CADD Mapping, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and Global Positioning System (GPS) for land surveying.

  1. Working knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations – Safety First.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for delivering scheduled work assignment of the mapping team, both GPC and contract personnel for numerous projects occurring concurrently.

  • Collaborates and coordinates with Land Engineering Resource Specialist, Land Engineering Coordinators, and Field Survey Team Leaders to ensure mapping requests are completed in a timely manner and adhere to project schedules.

  • Provides leadership to Land Engineering mapping employees. This includes, but is not limited to, performance management, coaching, goal setting, training and employee development.

  • Provides direction, guidance, and support to the mapping team members to ensure that tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.

  • Coordinates team activities and ensures that the team is aligned with the project goals and timelines.

  • Acts as a liaison between the team and its peers, as well as Land Engineering leadership focusing on communicating relevant company updates, project progress, and any issues impacting the team that may arise.

  • Encourages and motivates team members to maintain high levels of performance and engagement.

  • Identifies and resolves any conflicts or issues within the team to maintain a productive working environment.

  • Facilitates training and development of team members to enhance their skills and performance.

  • Ensures that the work produced by the team meets the required quality standards.

  • Delegates tasks appropriately based on team members’ strengths and workloads.

  • Provides timely constructive feedback to team members to help them improve and grow in their roles.

  • Tracks team performance and reports on progress to Land Engineering leadership.

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).

  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.

  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
