This position will be located at The Energy Center (Colonnade) in Birmingham, AL


This position is responsible for ensuring the consistent use and management of settlement quality data across Finance & Contract Services (F&CS) applications including the development of a long-term data management strategy ensuring robust needs are met.

This position will be entrusted to help develop and execute the vision of the F&CS leadership team while coordinating with multiple parties including operating companies, IT, FOT, system planning, and fuel services.

This is a new position responsible for creating and improving processes around voluminous amounts of data. This individual will also be heavily involved in the development and deployment of a new energy settlement system including testing and integration and as previously mentioned the expectation is the candidate will be responsible for developing a future strategy. Due to the magnitude of data and dollars, multiple partnerships and interests, and existing systems this individual’s time will be generally skewed toward undefined and complex assignments.


  • Responsible for consistency and management of settlement quality data across F&CS applications allowing for the accurate and timely settlement of $4-5 billion annually.

  • Ensure accuracy and consistent treatment of common reference data within the organization

  • Continuous improvement and integration of business tools and validation techniques

  • Implement F&CS financial control practices across business applications and tools ensuring documentation and procedures are developed and maintained

  • Responsible for unit ratings certification, contract implementation and change management

  • Responsible for the leadership, management and professional development of a team.

  • Responsible for the development of a long-term business strategy ensuring robust settlement needs are met.

  • Proactively identify, articulate and communicate future settlement strategy ensuring maximum flexibility across applications


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in a technical or business field such as engineering, finance, economics, accounting, or equivalent preferred.

  • An MBA, advanced degree or applicable certifications highly desired.

  • 5 years experience in data management, energy trading, wholesale contracts, power system operations, competitive energy markets, system planning, or production costing is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be a forward thinker capable of proactively identifying potential challenges and opportunities and resulting business strategies

Travel Requirements:

  • This position can require some travel – approximately 25% annually

  • This position will include some overnight travel
