Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

Summary

This position will report to the Emergency Preparedness Corporate Functional Area Manager (CFAM). Job responsibilities include establishing fleet standards and expectations for the functional area of Emergency Preparedness, responsibility for critically monitoring, assessing, and evaluating the performance of Emergency Preparedness throughout the fleet to ensure that standards are being met. This role also has an Oversight component, which means they are to recommend appropriate intervention and elevation/escalation of management attention as necessary when standards are NOT being met.

Background and Education Requirements:

Requirements:

• Five (5) years power plant experience

• One (1) year nuclear power plant experience

Preferences:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related science

• 2 years of supervisory/management experience preferred

• Emergency Preparedness background/experience

• Power plant systems knowledge (BWR and/or PWR)

• Second level leadership experience in a technical (Engineering) or line organization (Operations, Maintenance, HP, Chemistry or Work Management)

• General knowledge of radiation protection or dose assessment

• Knowledge of various nuclear plant technologies, maintenance, operations, and their impacts on Fleet operations

• Current or previous SRO license

• Training Instructor background preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The position will need strong leadership skills and high accountability, and must:

• Understand the value of the GOSP (Governance Oversight Support and Perform) model

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills- able to represent the GO organization at the sites

• Comfortable with providing feedback up and down the organization

• Have a clear vision of Excellence in EP and understanding of how EP fits in the organization

• Ability to influence without authority

• Ability to hold others accountable for performance

• Be influential and respected, both inside and outside of Southern Nuclear

• Participate in industry groups to ensure Southern Nuclear is leading the industry and modeling Excellence

• Focus on continuous improvement and driving for results

• Fill in for the CFAM as needed

• Promote alignment in the fleet in EP plan implementation and training

• Identify declines in performance in EP and the site’s implementation of the EP plan and ERO performance

• Understand and monitor metrics

• Promote teamwork and actively resolve conflicts in the organization

• Participate in NRC inspection prep and INPO/WANO assessments

• Communicate effectively with offsite response organizations (i.e. FEMA, Alabama EMA, GEMA, etc)

This position will require travel to the sites, INPO, etc.
