Description
JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates with various business partners on behalf of SCS Government Contract Compliance, in ensuring Southern Company and affiliate corporations’ compliance with federal government contract statutes and regulations.
Some travel may be required
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist business partners in the Southern system and SCS Government Contracts Compliance Manager in full lifecycle of contract and financial assistance administration including the preparation and review of government contract and financial assistance proposals, and post-award administration to assure compliance with government contract statutes and regulations and federal contract/agreement terms and conditions (including reporting and administrative requirements).
Monitor contracts/agreements for compliance with contractual requirements.
Assist in the closing-out of contracts and awards.
Assist with system repository for federal contracts and agreements
Assist in government or independent audits of federal contracts and cooperative agreements, as required.
Assist business partners in communications with Federal Contracting Specialists/Officers on administrative elements required for compliance with Federal regulations.
Assist in the preparation and presentation of training and reference materials on compliance with Federal Government contracting rules and regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or other technical equivalent
Experience with administration of federal agreements is highly preferred
Experience Requirements
Federal government contract development and administration including the statutes and regulations which govern government contracting vehicles such as the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)and Financial Assistance Regulations
Preparing and reviewing contract proposals including cost/budget data.
Experience in responding to auditing requirements including federal audit program guidelines.
Computer Research abilities and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General accounting including federal contract cost principles and cost accounting standards.
The ability to coordinate system cost/financial data to government contracts and proposals for government contracts to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations
Training skills
Highly effective communication with all levels and disciplines of the business areas supported
Computer skills (MS Excel/MS Office Suite)
