Infrastructure Architect - Voice
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for:
Drive design and delivery of collaboration, conferencing, voice strategy and services
Lead work effort on critical projects in areas of voice recording and call center technology
Strategy, planning, and roadmaps; closely working with Infrastructure Services teams
Strategic relationships with key infrastructure vendors
Research industry guidance, frameworks, and best practices
Lead efforts in conjunction with Network Services around:
Lifecycle planning
Setting and revising standards
Creating reference architectures, engineering templates, and pre-engineered solutions
Design and engineering of extremely complex infrastructure
DevOps network engineering and operations
Partner with Infrastructure Solutions team on the design and engineering of new infrastructure for which standards do not yet exist, e.g. cloud networking, contact center solutions in a private or public cloud environment
Lead Infrastructure Design Team committees relevant to Network Services technologies
Contribute to best practices sharing, such as capacity planning, automation
Collaborate with architects in other TO/IS organizations (e.g., Telecom Services, Application Services, Technology Security, Enterprise Technology Planning)
Communications, awareness, and high-level education about technology strategy to Network Services
The technology areas in scope for this position include all technologies owned by Network Services.
Network Services owns all data network technologies (excluding electric OT networks), which includes network routing protocols, quality of service, MPLS, core data center and wide area data network routing and switching, capacity planning, integration of our network with internet service providers, establishment of VPNs (virtual private networks), voice call management, VOIP (voice over IP), SIP technologies, contact center voice, video infrastructure technology, remote/fixed wireless routers, wireless LAN, firewalls, management systems, and cloud networking.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )
Job Requirements
Extremely strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with all technologies owned by Network Services, and basic understanding of the technologies owned by other Infrastructure Services groups
Understanding of rules and regulations that govern the use of technology, such as NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley, FCC licensing, Security Directives, as well as internal policies
Ability to define and articulate the “big picture” long-term vision for the infrastructure, and develop short term plans to achieve it.
Ability to analyze information from multiple sources for complex problem resolution.
Ability to design and engineer infrastructure solutions to maximize availability while minimizing cost.
Ability to create and evaluate reference technical architectures and ensure enterprise-wide buy-in, adoption, adherence and implementation
Ability to organize tasks and coordinate various employees, vendor / contractors, and customers / partners to meet project goals.
Ability to work independently, prioritizing major tasks by overall impact to the company.
Ability to communicate and work with all levels of management, vendors, and other internal and external groups.
Ability to effectively lead committees and teams, train personnel, and make presentations.
Education/Experience
Bachelors in Computer Science or an Engineering field strongly preferred; four (4) years of relevant technical experience is an acceptable substitute.
A minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of service (depending on job level), providing engineering and/or support for infrastructure technologies. When relevant technical experience is substituted for a degree, the minimum experience requirement increases by four (4) years.
