IT Security Analyst (Network Security)

Position Overview: This role is responsible for architecting, designing and implementing security solutions (Firewalls, IPS, WAF, NAC, Packet Brokers). The candidate should have experience with securing complex networks to include on-premise and cloud environments. The successful candidate will also need hands-on experience with setup, configuration, integration and troubleshooting enterprise remote access solutions (Client-to-Site and Site-to-Site VPNs, Citrix, WorkspaceOne, Clientless VPNs)


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, and Panorama, and all next generation features is a requirement for this role

  • Minimum 4 years infrastructure engineering experience

  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications and data network systems including IP addressing and naming (DNS, DHCP), LAN switching, core network switching and network routing protocols including OSPF and BGP

  • Strong TCP/IP internetworking skills including a thorough understanding of application protocols

  • Practical experience with Splunk, ArcSight or comparable Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system

  • Advanced network troubleshooting and network protocol analysis skills

  • Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on customer commitments

  • Working knowledge of code and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash)

  • Effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms.

  • Experience with packet brokering technologies (Apcon, Gigamon, Ixia) strongly preferred

  • Experience with F5 Networks products (BigIP, ASM, GTM) strongly preferred

  • Experience with public cloud environment such as Azure and/or AWS is a plus

  • Industry certification preferred (CISSP, CISA, GIAC, PCNSA/PCNSE) Job Responsibilities:

  • Specify, design, procure, install and configure security hardware and software solutions

  • Collaborate with others to provide security advisory support and implement security solutions that strike a reasonable balance between security recommendations and business needs

  • Conduct proof of concept and proof of value studies working with business stakeholders and platform/service providers to gauge solution effectiveness prior to full adoption.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in areas of network security and segmentation

  • Plan, coordinate and provide subject matter leadership on information security projects

  • Be an active participant in the life cycle management of network security solutions

  • Help customers understand and apply information security concepts, processes and technologies

  • Maintain current knowledge of information security concepts, technologies and practices

Job Requirements :

  • United States citizenship is required

  • Awareness of energy industry trends, opportunities and challenges

  • Strong technical consulting experience; ability to understand business requirements and present appropriate solutions

  • Effectively communicate both technical and business requirements

  • Demonstrated critical, independent thinking; demonstrated ability to conceive and present creative solutions

  • Basic budgeting, accounting and financial skills preferred

  • Must pass NERC CIP & Insider Threat Protection background checks

  • Occasional travel to local and regional locations in pursuit of the job duties and requirements. Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant curricula

  • Prior experience providing engineering support to security and other teams for cyber security related events

  • Prior Network Engineering or Network Security Engineering background

  • Prior experience implementing and supporting security solutions in alignment with government regulations and private sector frameworks

  • Recent energy industry experience

  • Good understanding of firewall technology

  • Good understanding of data protection, privacy, and compliance requirements

  • One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, CISA, GIAC, AWS

  • Fortune 500 background
