JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supporting the Technology Organization’s (TO) Field Operations (FO) West & Generation Team with responsibilities for Alabama & Mississippi. FO provides installation, maintenance, break-fix, and project support for Southern Company's voice, data, and telecommunications transport networks while also assisting various infrastructure groups with initiatives as needed. The Support Analyst is a liaison between FO, TO, Operating Companies, and various technology vendors.

The Support Analyst (SA) will work collaboratively with the leadership team and Telecommunications Analysts (TAs) to support the organization’s day-to-day business operations and long-term strategies. The SA will provide reporting and analytics support, serve as single point of contact for vendor maintenance and break-fix support, help with the ingestion and integration of work activities, support the management of the day-to-day workload of Technicians and Telecommunications Analysts, assist with the coordination of internal business partners and external vendors, develop processes, and provide documentation. The SA will be required to attend meetings, build, and nurture relationships with partners and vendors, demonstrate an overall knowledge of the Field Operations organization’s roles and responsibilities, and communicate effectively with all parties. The SA will work closely with the Group Manager and leadership team to provide back-office support to the organization.

A high-level summary of responsibilities include:

  • Provide analytical and reporting support, including metrics, performance indicators, dashboards, data interpretation, etc.

  • Coordinate vendor maintenance and break-fix support at sites including accounting functions.

  • Develop and manage processes to ingest and integrate work into the group.

  • Provide project scheduling, logistics, and resource management assistance.

  • Provide work practice documentation and coordination, including accounting codes, maintenance processes, standards documentation, etc.

  • Provide organization and administration of SharePoint sites.

  • Provide change management assistance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS : (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

Education & Experience:

  • Education requirement: Two-year degree in a related business or technology field, equivalent military training, or equivalent experience in a related business or technology field is required.

  • Experience requirement: Two years of experience in a similar role or experience in a telecommunications/field operations/IT support role is required.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc. is preferred.

  • Experience with Power BI and other dashboard or visualization tools is preferred.

  • Experience with reporting and analytics development, implementation, and automation, along with data analysis and interpretation.

  • Experience with documentation, project management, and process design.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities and responsibilities, meet schedules, and deliver on commitments.

Work Location & Hours:

  • This position will be performed within a hybrid environment and work may be performed remotely. Reporting to an office location each day is not expected or required.

  • The successful candidate can reside anywhere within the company foot print of Alabama or Mississippi. Relocation assistance is not offered with this position.

  • This position is an exempt/salaried position. Typical workdays and hours are Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM with flexibility. There will be occasional after-hours and/or weekend engagement during storms, critical events, etc.

  • The successful candidate will be required to attend occasional team, vendor, or business partner meetings, training, or other on-site events and must be willing to travel and attend in person when necessary or requested.
