Job Description: Technology Planning Analyst (TPA)

This position reports to the VP of Electric Technology Solutions, and provides strategic direction, planning, and coordination across the electric functions for technology planning, portfolio management, and execution of related initiatives. A key aspect of this job is to drive continuous improvement in the electric technology planning process, deliverables, and to support electric business partners.

The role supports the office the VP of Electric Technology Solutions including strategic initiatives, special projects, annual planning, communications, and internal and external technology efforts.

The role partners closely with technology planning analysts in each electric function to document and communicate key expectations associated with planning and portfolio management, and to ensure consistency and best practices are used across all Electric functions.

The position builds and maintains strategic partnerships with enterprise technology planning, project management office, technology services, infrastructure services, and the budgeting and reporting organization.

The Technology Planning Analyst is depended on to provide thought leadership on technology direction and decisions based on emerging technologies, industry trends, best practices, and sound business processes. Planning / analysis responsibilities include defining and justifying investments that enable achievement of business objectives and advance the company’s capabilities in support of business strategy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with all electric function technology planning analysts (TPA), as well as with those TPAs in other technology organization functions

  • Develop an understanding of strategic technology planning in each electric technology function and how to integrate into overall electric technology planning

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships within the Technology Organization effectively supporting strategic planning and portfolio management

  • Develops internal and external communications to all levels

  • Understand and articulate the mission, vision, goals, strategic initiatives and priorities of the electric business units and influence positive outcomes

  • Coordinate annual electric technology planning process in alignment with enterprise technology planning and project management office planning efforts

  • Facilitate annual goal development for the electric technology organization

  • Coordinate and produce electric technology metrics for continuous improvement

  • Facilitate routine project portfolio reviews, special data collection projects, and rollout of improvements to planning processes and tools

  • Participate in key technology organization teams including Operations TLT, early career talent program, data & analytics community of practice, data innovations solutions hub, data center planning team, and serve as an innovation champion.

  • Interfaces regularly with the budgeting and reporting organization (SO-Flow, CFO reporting)

  • Ownership of Technology Spend Approval process and modifications for Electric Technology Solutions

  • Interfaces with Technology Business Partners on key operating company initiatives

  • Communicate and educate the Electric TPAs on technology initiatives, new and updated processes, and best practices. This role will represent the business unit TPAs interest or concerns on any of these changes back to the sponsoring Technology Organization group

EDUCATION

  • BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field

JOB EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in technology strategy and planning, business relationship management, business analysis and consulting

  • Experience leading and/or working on multiple technical projects from end-to-end

  • Experience utilizing and enhancing technology business processes

  • Experience communicating at all levels of management; and presenting ideas concisely

  • Strong technical background as well as business knowledge
