Description

Southern Company Gas is exploring the potential to integrate renewable gas into its system. This role supports all renewable gas efforts, but specifically focuses on hydrogen strategy. The successful candidate will be focused on and responsible for strategy development, program management, and project management of potential opportunities for the Company’s regulated and commercial businesses. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to align projects with business goals as well as manage cross-functional teams and communicate across the enterprise.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in effective strategy development

  • Three or more years of project management experience, specifically leading cross-functional teams on multifaceted projects

  • Technical aptitude with the ability to understand and apply technical considerations to a project scope

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and develop strategies and opportunities

  • Experience in natural gas infrastructure design or operations is preferred

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Must be able to visit job sites, which may be outside in rough or uneven terrain

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate throughout Southern Company Gas and across Southern Company to support development the company’s hydrogen strategy

  • Work with each local distribution company and business unit to develop new programs and projects to support the integration of hydrogen

  • Strategically algin potential renewable gas projects with business goals

  • Understand and communicate project structures and performing market research on policy, technology, programs, and other areas of interest

  • Lead project development efforts, including development of business cases, contract negotiations, scope development, and detailed planning

  • Interface and collaborate with technical partners and integrate any operational considerations into program and project development

  • Gain an understanding of current hydrogen technology and monitor future advancements in collaboration with Southern Company partners

  • Participate in industry collaborations and consortiums with members from government agencies and academic institutions

  • Support state and federal policy development and analysis for items potentially impacting renewable gas efforts

  • Facilitate the coordination between various internal teams and departments working on and supporting project development

  • Provide updates throughout the organization, including senior management

  • Other duties as assigned
