The ME / QC Director will utilize multiple improvement strategies such as Six Sigma and Total Quality Management to develop and monitor improvement processes within the organization. The ME /QC will develop a roadmap/strategy for lean activities across manufacturing and drive a culture of continuous improvement. The ME / QC will be a focal point for continuous improvement activities and work within the senior leadership team to drive operational efficiency and meet business financial goals. The Director of ME/QC, will champion the manufacturing team’s lean and continuous improvement activities to improve Safety, Quality, reduce Costs, improve on-time delivery, and develop the lean skills and abilities of People in the production team.
Also, the Director of ME/QC will develop operational capabilities and excellence in the areas of Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing In-Process Quality Control, and Continuous Improvement. Direct the activities of all functions involved in the creation of New Product Structures & Routings, Methods of Manufacture (MoM), Manufacturing Assembly Instructions (MAI’s), and in-process Quality Checklists. Lead continuous improvement activities across the engineering and production teams to drive out waste and meet business-level cost and productivity targets.

Manufacturing Engineering Team Leadership:
Ensure close coordination between Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to develop New Product Structures in ERP that align with machine & people capabilities and are manufacturable with high degrees of repeatability and quality.
Develop continuous improvement feedback loops and processes to ensure actual manufacturing hours align with planned hours, and sales /cost estimates.
Create and maintain KPI’s to ensure the timely set up of new parts and transfer of design information between the engineering Vault and ERP systems.
Establish processes and procedures to ensure the overall manufacturability of new products – Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
Develop and socialize a Lean Manufacturing 1-year & 3-year roadmaps.
Drive the creation and adoption of standardized work instructions (MAI’s) to improve efficiency and quality and create repeatability and predictability in key assembly operations.
Design and implement revisions to assembly cells, material storage, workstations, fixtures, and tooling, etc.
Evaluate options for new tooling, machinery, etc. and lead the payback / ROI analysis to determine appropriate capital investments and/or upgrades.
Continuous Improvement Team Leadership:
Champion and lead improvements in process efficiency, reduction in costs, improvement in customer service, and waste and loss (Muda) reduction efforts through the application of Continuous Improvement (CI) / Lean Manufacturing (LM) principles.
Represent and encourage a continuous improvement culture within the production team.
Support a metrics-driven culture to measure the effectiveness of manufacturing processes by tracking KPI’s and using dashboards.
Guide the factory floor data standardization, collection, utilization, and visual management to drive continuous improvement.
Act as a Change Agent, promoting the vision and the path to Manufacturing Excellence.
Develop and maintain a deck of continuous improvement projects, showing target/plan, and actual benefits. Present monthly to Senior Leadership Team.
Participate in the specification and implementation of new ERP functionality to improve efficiency across all aspects of the supply chain group.
Develop a culture of collaboration and teamwork with other departments to drive process improvement and meet efficiency and growth goals.
Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and set appropriate department goals
In-Process Quality Team Leadership
Manage In-process Quality Control team. Mentor and develop a strong team capable of supporting all aspects of production and creating world-class production capabilities.

Drive measurable improvement in DPU (Defects per Unit) identified in Test.
Coach, mentor, and develop a strong team capable of supporting all aspects of production and creating world-class production capabilities.
Establishes annual goals and objectives, (including stretch targets) in coordination with corporate objectives, and manages performance to ensure attainment ? Supervise, mentor and develop Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement team members and create career growth opportunities and robust succession plans within the team.
Represent the organization in executive-level meetings and contribute to the establishment of major business strategies.
Promote and enable the development of staff, manage and document performance, and implement responsive actions.
Cost Out & Efficiency Improvements:
Drive (measurable) labor hour reductions in repeat-build products.
Drive manufacturing cycle time reductions via Lean Manufacturing methods.
Plant Visual Management:
Implement digital SQCDP metric boards on the shop floor – driven by ERP (IFS) Data.
Develop a method and equipment solution to make manufacturing KPI’s visible to all assembly team members.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and/or Continuous Improvement role.
• 5+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or CI Leadership role.
• Certified Six Sigma (DMAIC) Green or Black Belt.
• Hands-on Plant / Operational management experience.
• MBA or experience in a business leadership role preferred.
• Automotive Industry experience (GM, Ford, Toyota, etc.) desirable.
• Strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.
• Senior / Executive Leadership skills in building and managing teams with a proven track record of achieving goals.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
