Master Scheduler (Engineering and Manufacturing)
Description
Job Summary:
This individual will be responsible for planning, organizing, and maintaining the Master Production Schedule (MPS). The MPS is a planned production engineering, manufacturing, and shipment schedule, in weekly capacity-constrained sections, that is derived from outputs of the Initial Project Planning Meetings (IPM’s) and consistent discussions and coordination with Technical Project Managers (TPM) and Production Project Managers (PPM). The goals of the MPS are production efficiency, velocity, and on-time shipment performance to Original Customer Promise (OCP). The Master Scheduler works together with the Production Planners to ensure plant loading from the MPS neither under (passing up capacity) or overloads available capacity (causing late deliveries to OCP).
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
2 years manufacturing/engineering planning, or project management experience Required.
Proficient in MS Excel and Access required.
Power BI is a plus.
Lean manufacturing experience (Six Sigma, 5S, etc.) preferred.
Formal project management training and PMI certification are desirable.
Highly organized, open-minded & motivated self-starter.
Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability of developing accurate production schedules based on the input and buy-in from multiple stakeholders.
Proven ability to collaborate and communicate across multiple disciplines, with internal and external stakeholders, using a mix of verbal and written communication skills.
A “hands-on” approach to monitoring production processes versus the MPS is required – including frequent interactions with Engineering Management, Manufacturing Management, Purchasing Management, Quality Management, and Executive Management.
A proactive problem-solving methodology – acting as a catalyst for bringing the right team members together to resolve issues that create the risk of shipment to OCP, before results are missed.
Ability to report findings and KPI’s to Director of Manufacturing.
Ability to develop statistical and fundamental assessments, as needed.
High energy, ability to catalyze action and drive successful resolution to problems that inhibit on-time shipment to OCP.
Excellent presentation skills (verbal & written) and ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated ability and direct experience managing production activities and analyzing data related to production forecasting in a vertically integrated, engineer-to-order manufacturing environment, using an ERP system.
Well-rounded exposure and/or experience in various manufacturing plant activities, including supply chain / materials planning, production management, purchasing, etc.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
Drive high accuracy into the MPS for a rolling 120-day time period, to ensure plant capacity is effectively utilized to meet aggressive business growth goals.
Ensure alignment between the Production Engineering and Production Manufacturing schedules.
Develop an MPS that specifies the timing and sequence of order manufacturing based on multiple inputs – customer request date, promised lead-time, customer priority, and internal resource constraints.
Develop and maintain (in IFS) a clear view of plant demand/loading by Work Center (based on current scheduled SO loading and hours in routings).
Develop and maintain (in IFS) a project Dashboard which broadly communicates the status of key project milestones (on-time, risk, late) to Plan.
Setup and maintain a strong communication system with Work Center leads and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure hours in routings accurately reflect the time needed to do the work. Identify areas where estimates and actual hours differ, and coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering to update templates to ensure future accuracy.
Develop work process/procedure to utilize current IFS functionality to improve the accuracy and efficiency of scheduling new work and balancing Work Center loading. Load new SO's based on open capacity.
Proactively communicate in the event of under or over load situations to enable adjustments in labor assignments and/or re-prioritization of projects to ensure on-time performance is maintained for business-critical projects.
Develop specification for IFS improvements, dashboards, reports, etc. to improve process. Implement improvements.

Liaison between Sales / Solutions to Manufacturing / Shipping to ensure key stakeholders understand milestones, deliverables, and schedule to maximize project success.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
