Product Support Specialist (Microgrid)

Job Summary

Provide technical support for PowerSecure MicroGrid equipment, including switchgear and generators. This role is customer-focused, requiring high-quality decision-making, systematic analysis, and effective problem-solving to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison between field operations and factory engineering teams.

  • Support start-up, commissioning, and field troubleshooting of MicroGrid systems.

  • Provide technical support via phone and occasional on-site visits.

  • Manage onsite engineering changes to drawings and settings files.

  • Assist in developing and executing retrofit projects and engineering change notices.

  • Escalate project risks to leadership to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Commission complex PLC-based systems in critical infrastructure environments.

  • Troubleshoot and support PowerGen and Switchgear products and control systems.

    Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience with generators, ATS/switchgear, and paralleling control systems (or 2+ years with a BSEE).

  • Proficient in reading electrical/mechanical schematics and engineer-of-record drawings.

  • Experience with:

  • PLCs and generator controllers

  • Protective relays and alternators

  • Commissioning and field service

  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical theory.

  • Ability to edit and develop switchgear and PowerGen controller settings.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • NFPA 70 Arc Flash Certification.

  • Experience with:

  • PowerGen products (e.g., Volvo, PSI)

  • Switchgear (e.g., Square D, Eaton, ABB, Siemens)

  • Controllers and relays (e.g., Woodward, DIEF, SEL, Beckwith, Siemens/GE PLCs)

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Remote work with up to 45% travel.

  • Exposure to industrial environments, including electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to work in both office and outdoor settings.

  • Occasional after-hours and weekend support required.
