Southern Company Project Development Engineer -Microgrid Focused in Durham, North Carolina

PowerSecure has an exciting opportunity for a Project Development Engineer to join our team as the technical resource contact for the Distributive Infrastructure (DI) sales team. We are looking for a team member who has a Microgrid focus (Renewables, Inverter based experience). This position can work remotely with the possibility of required travel to meetings and/or trainings.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical degree.

  • Minimum of 7years’ experience as an electrical consultant, application/project engineer or in related industry

  • Strong CAD and computer software skills are a must

  • Prior experience working with a sales team

  • General Electrical Power Distribution System experience required

  • Renewable Power Distribution Systems experience (Inverter based – Energy Storage & Solar)- a plus

  • Power system modeling (fault, coordination, arc flash) in SKM a plus

  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a plus

The Project Development Engineer role includes pre-sale development of project engineering scope, costing, application, and client design intent. The engineer will also remain involved with the project post-sale in an engineering project manager role as part of the Project Team. The day-to-day activities for the Project Development Engineer would include (but not be limited to): establishing concept design drawings (one-lines/site plans); performing utility interconnection research and applications; managing engineering deliverables and responding to RFI(s); specifying purchased components; supporting sales in new customer opportunity meetings; and participating in project team meetings.

In addition to meeting the job requirements above, our ideal Project Development Engineer will possess strong interpersonal skills for both inward and outward facing project management and sales support.
