Location: 205 Southfield Pkwy, Forest Park, GA

Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading and supervising a statewide workgroup that performs construction of civil assets for Power Delivery Construction including: mass grading activities, site clearing, soil engineering, erosion control, oil containment, horizontal and vertical foundation construction, curb and gutter, sidewalk paving/repair, asphalt construction, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water line construction. In addition to performance management and workforce management, this position will manage capital construction projects to ensure efficient scheduling of resources, safe work performance, and meeting project schedules. Candidate must have knowledge of civil construction estimating, civil grading design, transmission line design and construction, substation physical design and construction, and state certified erosion control management and compliance. Additionally, knowledge of proper accounting procedures and protocol, contract compliance/management, construction industry standards (OSHA, ASTM, NESC, ACI, NPDES and others), and safety compliance are critical to the success of the team. Candidate must have a strong customer focus and the ability to respond quickly to requests for services. The individual must be highly motivated to provide excellent and reliable services and able to make decisions quickly with little or no supervision. This position interfaces with Managers, Line and Substation Construction Project Supervisors, Foremen, Inspectors, Design, Engineering and Project Management to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Education Level & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 5 plus years related experience required

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise a statewide team performing civil construction activities

  • Manage and schedule resources for civil construction projects to efficiently meet capital budget requirements

  • Performance management and employee development

  • Audit and approve CAMP invoices

  • Attend location, solution team, pre-engineering, and pre-construction meetings to provide expertise on constructability and cost impact

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the bid process (contracts, RFPs, bid packages and pre-bid meetings)

  • Provide leadership and guidance dealing with customer issues (internal & external) as they arise

  • Ensure team schedules pre-construction meetings and provide guidance as needed

  • Verify and provide civil construction estimates

  • Provide work direction to company employees and contract inspectors

  • Select and assign contractors to projects and ensure acceptable contractor performance

  • Provide construction expertise to engineering and design

  • Work with Primavera – report progress in P6

  • Must be available to work assigned storm duty, which could include weekends, holidays and overnight travel

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills

  • Must have excellent computer skills using MS Office and a working knowledge of Construction Scheduling Software (Primavera, P6, MS Project)

  • Proven leadership abilities

  • Demonstrated project planning experience

  • Ability to build strong relationships and a strong team

  • Must be able to read and interpret design drawings to ensure constructability

  • Must have a working knowledge of civil construction methods and standards as it relates to grading and excavation, oil containment, drilled shafts, structural concrete & surveying

  • Ability to manage and prioritize numerous statewide projects

  • NPDES / GASWCC (blue card or higher) certified or ability to obtain

  • Working knowledge of contract administration process

Travel

  • This position is based in Forest Park, GA, but will involve considerable statewide travel & routine overnight stays throughout the state of Georgia
