JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing electrical engineering and other technical support in the areas of solar/PV interconnection and policy, DER implementation and policy, Power Quality, and engineering and project management related to electrical services/projects such as generator plants, microgrids, DER, solar/PV, customer medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution, and related systems and technologies. Typical activities would include collaborating within or leading internal or customer initiatives to determine feasibility, scope, costs, and benefits related to the above described projects or initiatives. The role would work with diverse internal and external teams including engineers, architects, accounting/finance, legal, regulators, government, and other internal and external leadership/management. Internal collaboration would be required in particular with Electric Operations and distribution engineering personnel. The position would be expected to develop scopes of work, designs, drawings, reports, cost estimates, cost savings estimates, studies, recommendations, and written and oral proposals and presentations. As projects move into construction the role would develop and negotiate contracts and provide project management including safety and QC plans, project schedules, auditing, billing, securing final acceptance and closeout/reporting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. PE license preferred. CEM license preferred.

  • Ideal candidate will have strong engineering experience (minimum of 5 years) in the utility or commercial/industrial electrical engineering field, related electrical equipment, and general. Sales experience is preferred.

  • 5 years of experience in proposing, developing, and implementing electrical services and projects of the nature described in the Job Summary section.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and adherence to construction timelines, critical path management, and budget management.

  • Working knowledge of MPC and general electric utility standards and specifications for distribution preferred.

  • Working knowledge of the NEC and NESC required.

  • Demonstrated experience related to improving reliability and power quality of electrical systems.

  • Working knowledge of statutory restrictions and requirements pertaining to electrical services and electrical construction projects within the State of MS required. Additional experience in other states preferred.

  • Demonstrated sales skills in areas of serving the customer, building positive customer relationships as demonstrated with repeat sales, high customer satisfaction with institutional, municipal, educational type customer base.

  • Demonstrated skills in drafting, writing, assembling, and responding to RFQ’s and RFP’s for electrical services and electrical construction projects. Skills include verbal presentations at various levels of customer management.

  • Demonstrated record of successful sales in highly competitive markets in the electrical services and electrical construction contracting arena.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to multi-task.

  • Good written, verbal, and listening communication skills including interface with internal and external customers, contractors and multiple levels of management.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify customer issues, identify solutions, and negotiate positive outcomes in a highly professional manner between all stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with a sales team in developing electrical services and electrical construction project offerings to industrial, commercial, institutional, education, and governmental customers.

  • Identify and pursue electrical services and construction projects, develop and negotiate customer contracts.

  • Draft, develop, finance, and price projects based on bids from design professionals, contractors, or other external quotes.

  • Act as the primary interface between customer and vendor after the sales process during implementation of electrical services and electrical construction projects.

  • Manage all aspect of electrical services and electrical construction project development and customer contract negotiations.

  • Comply with all MPC processes and procedures (including participating in risk review process).

  • Ensure high quality of work and customer satisfaction – provide feedback to MPC and vendor.
