JOB SUMMARY:

The Shared Services Supervisor position will be responsible for supervising the Real Estate and Materials workgroups as well as lead special projects for the Power Delivery Organization. The Real Estate workgroup is responsible for all real property-related activities for the company as well as record management and retention of all property rights obtained by MPC. The Materials workgroup is responsible for distribution construction and material specifications as well as project support. Other special projects will include disaster planning, power delivery co-op program recruiting and coordination, and technical training for power delivery engineers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred. Engineering degree desired.

  • Proven experience in transmission and/or distribution engineering and project management.

  • Experience in acquiring ROW and permits for transmission and/or distribution projects.

  • Experience in planning, developing, and management of budgets for transmission and/or distribution projects.

  • Proven leadership abilities to provide direction for the department, manage and develop the department employees, and meet the expectations of those business units the department supports.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Excellent negotiating skills.

  • Strong project management, coordination, and asset management skills.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the activities of the Real Estate Department to acquire; fee lands for generating plants, substations, offices and other fee parcels; easements for transmission lines, distribution lines, pipelines, fiber optic lines and other easements; leases for office, storage yards and other sites.

  • Manage the activities of the Real Estate Department to preserve real property rights through removal of encroachments or granting of appropriate encroachment agreements.

  • Manage and/or dispose of surplus real property as directed by Corporate management.

  • Manage the activities of the Real Estate Department to establish, maintain, and or support company real estate records. Support and insure the department is in full compliance of all accounting, finance, contract, and property accounting requirements.

  • Manage the activities of the Real Estate Department to conduct legal actions through retained law firms. Legal actions may include eminent domain, encroachment removal, restraining orders and actions necessary to perform duties assigned to the department.

  • Manage the activities of the Materials Department to ensure material and construction specifications meet or exceed National Electric Safety Code requirements.

  • Manage activities of Materials Department to support Division Engineers on engineering specific projects.

  • Manage activities of the Materials Department to monitor new technologies and material and recommend changes/improvements in material to reduce costs and improve reliability and customer service.

  • Manage activities of the Materials Department to provide refresher training on system equipment as well as training for the operation of new equipment to Power Delivery engineering and line crew.

  • Manage activities of the Materials Department to biannually review installed equipment and store room stocking levels to ensure material available to maintain the system day to day as well as in a disaster.

  • Add, update, or delete distribution O&M procedures and bulletins as needed.

  • Participate in Southern Company committees and industry committees to represent MPC and Southern Company interests on material, specification, code, and industry standard changes.

  • Lead the Disaster and Restoration Committee annually to update division storm assignments and logistic sites.

  • Administer the co-op program including recruitment, job placement, and quarterly management co-op review meetings.

  • Develop program and administer technical engineering training for Power Delivery.
