Functional Expertise :

  • Assist with the management of regulatory compliance at the federal and state level through research, analysis, and filing preparation for the corporation’s Houston-based Commercial Businesses (“the Company”) – Pivotal Energy Development (natural gas storage facilities), Pivotal LNG (LNG producer and supplier), Southern Company Gas Pipeline Holdings (interstate pipeline ownership) and Sequent Energy Management (wholesale natural gas marketing, trading and asset management)

  • Researches federal and state compliance reporting requirements, maintains compliance reporting calendars, coordinates compliance reporting filings and maintains regulatory records.

  • Administers Federal Regulatory Energy Commission (FERC) Gas Tariff software database (TariffShark/Hammerhead) and preparation of FERC gas tariff and Statement of Operating Conditions filings and state tariff filings for natural gas storage facilities.

  • Assists in the research, preparation, and submission of certificate applications, interventions in proceedings, comments to the Federal Regulatory Energy Commission (FERC) and other state agencies’ rulemakings and regulatory data requests.

Business Acumen:

  • Researches, coordinates and prepares detailed regulatory analysis for existing assets and businesses, potential acquisitions and/or other special projects.

  • Coordinates permit renewals with Alberta Energy Regulator, National Energy Board, U.S. Department of Energy for Sequent and works with Accounting to submit customs and import/export reporting to applicable agencies.

Engagement:

  • Works closely with key representatives from Accounting, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial to gather data for compliance reports to various state and federal agencies.

  • Engages with regulatory agency staff when needed for compliance reporting.

  • Works with outside counsel to submit blanket certificate renewals and obtain contract approvals from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources.

  • Tracks and schedules regulatory compliance training of Company personnel.

Driving Results:

  • Follows regulatory and organization policies to ensure that all compliance reporting and permit renewals and other filings are submitted accurately and timely to ensure compliance.

  • Monitors federal (FERC and Department of Energy) and state agencies’ websites to determine filings of key importance and prepares summary reports on matters of key importance for various business groups.

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required: BA/BS degree

Related Work Experience:

Required:

  • 1-3 years work experience in the natural gas or related industry

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years of regulatory experience with an interstate or intrastate pipeline/storage facility or other regulated natural gas business; gas marketing/asset management company or federal, state, or related local government experience

Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
