Power Plant Operator (Houston County GA)

You will be responsible for the ongoing operation, site maintenance, cleanliness, minor repairs, and scheduling of vendors for repairs for the Houston County Power Plant located at the Houston Count Landfill. Additionally you must coordinate operations with the landfill. You must live within one hour travel distance to the Houston County Landfill.
Daily travel to site with independent work structure
Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call
Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments
Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment
Daily log of plant operations
Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors as necessary
Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition
Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately
A minimum of four years of mechanical maintenance and power plant operations experience. Landfill or waste water treatment power plant experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years of education in electronic repair or related military experience or equivalent field experience. CAT electronic technician a plus. EGSA Certification a plus.
Digester gas experience a plus.
Experience with or ability to quickly learn advanced generator electric controls operations. CAT ET, EasyGen, and Gas Monitor system.
Ability to read and decipher electronic schematics and be able to troubleshoot discreet mechanical and electronic systems to the component level.
Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures.
Strong written and verbal English skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Outlook email/calendars
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Physical Activity: 85% physical activity required on customer site working with equipment, 15% form completion, email, other administrative tasks and completing technical support activities by way of telephone and computer communication.
May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-75 pounds).
Frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands, to grasp, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
Combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to Protective Glasses, Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to read computer screens, paper documents, equipment.
Ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals.
May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally and hear others speaking.
