Job Summary

The Application Developer, I for Meters and Gas Operations applications position within Gas Technology Services will work with supervision to design and develop custom applications to support the Meters and Gas Operations applications utilized by Southern Company Gas as well as the build and support of Southern Company Gas COTS applications. Application Developer, I will complete projects, with supervision, which will include standard development using a variety of frontend technologies, Microsoft backend technologies, and integration technologies.

Essential Duties Include

• Work with frontend technologies: Angular 14, CSS, Bootstrap, Material Design, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, Node.js, Angular CLI, Kendo UI, and RxJS Libraries.

• Work with Microsoft backend technologies: VS 2017 , SSIS, T-SQL, 2016 SQL Server databases, Stored Procedures, .Net Framework, .Net C#

• Be able to translate Tech Design into build

• Be able to document applications and enhancements.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver project goals

• Collaborate with Senior Programmers to plan for coding and overall program development.

• Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance based on specifications, with supervision.

• Able to troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing software with supervision.

• Participate in system testing as required.

• Develop solutions and corresponding system documentation to routine technical problems of smaller and limited scope while building the skills to increase complexity.

• Participate in deployment activities to implement designed solutions.

• Maintain and follow production support processes focused on identification and mitigation of root cause.

• Maintain the ability to ‘flex’ to meet customer demands (production support and project work).

• Prioritize work and deliver on project commitments.

• Ability to provide on-call support for routine problems and incidents while building skill sets

• Considerable interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively is essential.

• Work, with supervision, to ensure strategies are aligned with Technology Organization goals and strategies.

Skills/Experience

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in technology field preferred

• 1 years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft backend technologies: VS 2017 , SSIS, T-SQL, 2016 SQL Server databases, Stored Procedures, .Net Framework, .Net C#

• 1 years of hands-on experience working with frontend technologies: Angular 5 , CSS, Bootstrap, Material Design, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, Node.js, Angular CLI, Kendo UI, and RxJS Libraries.

• Languages: .NET C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, PowerShell, JSON, HTML, CSS, SQL skills

• Frameworks: .NET Core/.NET Framework, Apigee, Web API Core, MVC, Asp.net, Entity Framework Core, Azure DevOps, XUnit, Angular 5 , Telerik Kendo UI, Bootstrap, Material Design, Node.js, Angular CLI, RxJS

• DevOps experience such as code versioning, branching, shelving, merging, and publishing

• Working knowledge of Agile practices and CI/CD pipeline adherence

• Knowledge of version control using TFS and/or GIT

• A basic knowledge and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and programming principles

• Interest in and passion for learning and working in a fast-paced environment

• Understand the difference between various sized projects, enhancement projects and production support

• Ability to identify root cause for routine problems while working with other technical staff

• Basic understanding of Technical Design Documents and Specifications

• Exposure to software development projects.

• Ability to develop unit testing of code components or complete applications.

• Exposure system development practices, methodology and tools

• Exposure to Agile delivery; Kanban; Scrum

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

• Ability to provide on-call support for routine problems and incidents

• Excellent communication skills

Reporting Relationship

• This position reports to the Supervisor, IT Development Meters and Gas Operations Applications.
