Project Manager, Renewable Natural Gas


The Renewable Gas (RG) Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the Company’s strategic objective of implementing RG programs. This person will serve as the RG program manager and will ensure renewable programs are developed and implemented in a manner that is consistent with business drivers and any Commission requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to develop and implement RG programs within our four regulated Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) and commercial businesses that meet the needs of our customers and business drivers

  • Communicate and coordinate across the enterprise on program strategy

  • Develop and produce accurate and timely renewable gas program reports

  • Design and setup processes to manage programs

  • Work with RG producers on interconnection requests and program needs, as well as leading coordination and review with internal groups

  • Manage and maintain programs that include environmental attribute accounting and reporting requirements

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with 3rd parties

  • Upon project approval, serve as the project manager for 3rd party interconnections

  • Ensure projects and programs are managed to budget and on schedule, define roles and responsibilities within the project team, identify and manage risks and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Following program development and approval, lead program implementation efforts

  • Work cross functionally to produce, manage, and track monthly program reports and analysis

  • Build positive relationships and work well with diverse groups, tailoring communication appropriately for customers, employees, and management

  • Research and communicate market development to enhance future programs

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • Demonstrated project management, strong interpersonal skills, and attention to detail

  • Excellent organization skills including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects

  • Proven problem solving/analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues

  • Experience in effectively interacting with both customers and internal stakeholders

  • Program cost accounting skills, program marketing skills, and program economic analysis skills

  • Demonstrated experience in analytical or marketing roles

  • Experience in contract analysis and management, as well as direct customer interaction preferred

  • Experience in designing and implementing utility renewable programs

  • Advanced understanding of and experience in environmental attribute accounting

  • Knowledge in the areas of renewable programs and tariffs

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively develop and summarize reports for internal and external communication

  • Computer skills including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, TEAMS, SharePoint, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Able to stimulate ideas and creativity from employees

  • Strong attention to detail and highly dedicated to quality, accuracy, and timeliness

  • Highly motivated with the demonstrated ability to develop and work well with teams

  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and adapt in a changing environment

  • Travel in-state and nationally is required

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree preferred

  • Strong project management skills required

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings required

  • Experience in managing utility programs required; experience in managing renewable programs preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to internal and external audiences is required

  • Experience with regulatory processes and procedures preferred

  • Program cost accounting and program economic analysis skills preferred

  • Travel in-state and nationally required (approximately 25% of the time), occasionally to project sites with rough or uneven terrain

This position may be flexible to report to an office location in Atlanta, Naperville (IL), Chattanooga, or Virginia Beach. Travel to various locations will be required.
