JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the Pressure Control Specialist is to inspect, support, and maintain gas facilities into and at power generation plants. The primary responsibilities are the installation, maintenance, and ongoing support of the electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic controls equipment serving as pressure control for the electric generating site. Additional responsibilities are gas leak surveys, atmospheric corrosion monitoring, valve maintenance, contractor oversight, odorant monitoring, and support of electronic measurement and measurement control equipment. Respond to emergency call outs for equipment malfunction or failure.
Responsible for the operation and maintenance program of the Company’s pipeline system serving power generation plants. Responsibilities include valve maintenance, right-of-way patrols, leak surveys, cathodic protection monitoring, contractor oversight, and over pressure protection inspection. First Responder to emergency call outs to the pipeline for leak calls or failure reports.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspection, maintenance, and tuning of pneumatic & electric pressure control systems
Rebuilding of internal parts in pressure control equipment, i.e. globe valves, ball valves, and unloading valves
Complete work reports in GIS based work management system
Proactively monitor solutions to reduce the occurrences of natural gas outages and minimize the length of outages
Perform “odorant concentration tests” to ensure odorant density within pipeline systems
Navigate pipeline right-of-ways to perform leak surveys and pipeline patrols
Change elements in coalescing filters during plant outages
Communication with power plant customers to schedule materials and maintenance
Performs cathodic protection readings occasionally
Most work performed alongside other technicians, but occasional lone work is required
No reporting to daily office, work will be performed at either a pipeline or power plant location
Will be subject to PHMSA Part 199 drug and alcohol program
Will be subject to FMCSA drug and alcohol program
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED
Pneumatic pressure control experience required
Natural gas facilities maintenance experience required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills are essential
Ability to utilize computer programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint along with a basic knowledge of GIS-based management systems (e.g. FlowGIS)
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of pressure control technologies and industry best practices
Working knowledge CFR 192 requirments for pipeline compliance
Understanding in measurement system, operating software, and administration
Understanding of communications / systems networking
Understanding of cathodic protection systems
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position will require travel – approximately 90%
This will include both day-trip and overnight travel and will be primarily within the Southeastern US
