Southern Company Technical Training Specialist - Power Generation in United States

Description

We are seeking a Power Generation Technical Training Specialist based anywhere in the continental USA. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of Power Generation field experience, experience developing and presenting training course materials, and be able to travel overnight at least 50% of the time.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced Generator Technician with training experience who is ready to move out of the field.

The primary goal of the Technical Training Specialist is to teach Service Technicians and customers how to safely and correctly diagnose, repair, and maintain all company serviced equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-the-job training to improve Service Technicians' skills, ensuring they are following company policies and procedures, are working safely, and to foster relationships to develop mutual trust with our Service Technicians.

  • Deliver training using developed course curriculum.

  • Research, develop and implement new course curriculum, to include presentations, presentation notes, hands on lab exercises, quizzes and final course exams.

  • Assist with scheduling training events.

  • Assist with the maintenance of the Technical Services database.

  • Participate in 24/7 on call rotation.

    Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of Power Generation field experience.

  • Experience developing and presenting training course materials.

  • Achieve and maintain EGSA Journeyman Certification.

  • Participate in continuing education to maintain and improve your knowledge base in the ever-changing technology of our field.

  • Knowledgeable of our industry standard OEM Maintenance recommendations, NFPA requirements, Rice NESHAP requirements, and any other AHJ’s requirements that maintain jurisdiction over sites we service and/or repair.

  • A minimum of 50% overnight travel, including two consecutive weeks, and occasionally three weeks during emergency response situations.

  • Proficient computer skills to include MS Outlook, MS Excel, and the ability to become proficient in the company ERP System.

  • Excellent verbal and written English skills, to include effective presentation skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree or some trade school preferred.
