Project Manager - Plant Vogtle 1&2

The project manager will:

  • Form and lead the project team.

  • Ensure site vice president expectations are met and that he is kept fully aware of progress and participates in major decisions.

  • Define the deliverables, scope, and team objectives.

  • Coordinate development of conceptual designs and estimates

  • Understand all assumptions in the business case.

  • Serve as the point of accountability for communication.

  • Provide communication across the team.

  • Drive the team to consensus and elevate decisions as necessary.

  • Establish project budget.

  • Manage scope control process, milestone schedule and budget.

  • Approve contracts for engineered equipment, materials and services based on project engineer and asset manager recommendations.

  • Ensure appropriate schedule coordination among all departments.

  • Lead any warranty, liquidated damages (LD), and claims resolution processes for owner-supplied equipment and materials.

  • Finalize turnkey contract closeouts.

  • Ensure all vendor retention payments are completed.

  • Conduct final lessons learned meetings and documentation.

  • This position requires travel.

Job Requirements:

  • BS in engineering or Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred. Business degree a plus.

  • PMP Certification a plus

Background/Experience Requirements:

  • Five years experience in nuclear power, preferred.

  • Minimum of three years utilizing project management skills, preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the plant and engineering organization.

  • Thorough understanding of nuclear plant processes and systems, preferred.

  • Ability to perform cost/benefit analysis, desired.

  • Previous plant experience desirable.

  • Experience managing capital projects desired.

  • Proven project implementation experience.

  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong relationships.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines and definite budget constraints.

  • Negotiating skills.

  • Knowledge of project control techniques.
