CAD Technician (No Testing Required) In Ofc 4 Days/Wk

JOB TITLE: CAD Technician

** Please be advised: Current Corporate Policy requires you to be IN the office @ 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA a minimum of four (4) days per week at this time. (Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Wednesday's & Thursday’s and if/when additionally required.)

There is NO longer a testing requirement for this position.

A Valid GA Driver's License is required.

Participation on storm evaluation and restoration teams (if necessary) MAY also be required.

JOB SUMMARY

The CAD Technician is responsible for performing CAD mapping for Land Engineering projects in support of SCS Engineering and Power Generation, SCS Transmission Line & Substation Design, GPC Environmental and Natural Resources and other customers. The CAD Technician possesses a high level of mapping skill, expertise and knowledge. The CAD Technician will work to ensure Land Engineering projects are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements

· High school degree, required

· Certified CAD Technician or CAD Certificate Program courses, a plus

Experience Requirements

· Minimum of 1 years of experience using computer aided drafting & design (CADD) related to land surveying and/or civil engineering is strongly desired

· Working knowledge and use of AutoCAD or comparable mapping software is required

· Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus

· Field land surveying experience is a plus

· Use of Carlson Field & Office software is a plus

· Global Positioning System (GPS) experience is a plus

· Experience with LiDAR data and/or laser scanning data is a plus

· MicroStation experience is a plus

· Strong computer skills required

· Strong organizational and time management skills required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Working knowledge of computer aided drafting and design (CADD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software which focuses on surveying and/or civil engineering

· Ability to read and understand surveying and property documents and drawings.

· Knowledge of the various survey coordinate datums and projection systems and their differences

· Use of basic office software (MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, PC file folder systems, etc.)

· Good communication skills, ability to work with a team, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Job Duties:

· Perform CAD mapping for Land Engineering projects

· Reading and interpreting deeds, plats and other property record information

· Ensure surveying and mapping products are delivered to clients on schedule

· Support field surveying activities in an appropriate manner that assists in meeting client expectations

· Stay informed on Land Engineering status for assigned projects and provide timely feedback to update progress schedules
