Service Estimator
Description
Summary:
The Service Estimator is responsible for delivering precise and comprehensive service and repair quotations to clients. This role involves analyzing recommendations from field service technicians, providing feedback, and collaborating with technicians to develop accurate repair estimates that support optimal system performance. The estimator works closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the availability of necessary parts and equipment. Additionally, the estimation team supports the sales department by providing up-to-date pricing information for service contract proposals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
High School diploma required
Experience
Minimum 5 years in generator, automotive/diesel, or service-based industry
2+ years working in an ERP system
Service estimation experience preferred
Mechanical/electrical repair experience in the power systems industry is a plus
Skills & Knowledge
Proficient in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and ability to learn company ERP/Estimation software
Ability to read and interpret parts manuals and electrical diagrams
Skilled in estimating hours, parts, and tools with limited information (make/model/problem area)
Ability to obtain accurate pricing from databases, contractors, and suppliers
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
General understanding of engine operation and component interaction desired
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Effective collaborator with technicians, customer service managers, and vendors
Knowledge of commercial/industrial generator service industry
Ability to contribute to a high-performance work team
Willingness to develop and leverage relationships with OEM vendors
Job Responsibilities:
Receive, interpret, and review inbound Requests for Quotes (RFQs) from service technicians, fluid sample results, and customers
Research parts and labor using internal database, vendor support, and OEM materials
Create quotes in alignment with customer contractual requirements
Verify and update vendor parts master costs
Working Conditions
On-site position
Occasional travel required for training or meetings
Flexible hours may be necessary to accommodate multiple time zones (Central, Eastern, Mountain, Pacific)
Availability for after-hours tasks as needed
