JOB SUMMARY
This position will be required to handle all day-to-day engineering work activities for the airport. Responsibilities include service design, estimating, and coordinating construction for multiple overhead and underground construction projects in and around the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Candidate must provide superior customer service and be able to prepare and schedule construction of jobs to meet committed service dates.
Candidate will have oversight over the development of distribution projects including engineering and construction.
This role also serves as the approval authority for all distribution related daily operational request including EWPs and switching request. Candidate will write and execute switching orders to effectively maintain, operate, and assist in the distribution planning of the system for reliability.
Candidate must be available after business hours for local, out-of-town, and out of-state trouble and storm restoration.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements: (The following education, license, or experience is required)
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology OR
Bachelor's Degree in Math or Science OR
Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree OR
15 plus years of demonstrated, strong technical experience in Distribution-Field Operations
Job Experience:
Minimum 2 years as Sr Engineer, Sr Engineering Associate, or minimum 5 years as Engineering Rep Sr in an operating headquarters (These years of experience need to be in Distribution-Field Operations)
At least 5 years of combined experience in Distribution and Transmission. Distribution field experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of electrical system operations, distribution systems, underground and overhead construction practices a plus
Knowledge of the Distribution system, policies, operating practices and procedures
Customer focused with strong interpersonal skills
Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external clients
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including executives, management, supervision, covered employees, contract employees, business leaders, and customers
Ability to conduct financial analysis, manage capital budgets and provide accurate budget projections
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop and manage multiple project schedules, work plans, and budgets
Knowledge of Distribution Project Review Team (DPRT), Transmission Project Review Team (TPRT) and Transmission and Distribution Council (T&D)
Demonstrated ability to recognize high profile opportunities and respond proactively
Ability to prioritize and organize work to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
Must have valid driver’s license.
JOB RESPONSABILITIES
The project engineer will
Provide long-term planning for all airport-related projects for distribution and coordinate with transmission and network to effectively schedule work to minimize risk.
Have oversight over the development of distribution projects including engineering and construction.
Provide periodic updates to leadership on projects.
Coordinate inquiries, engineering, coordination, and execution of projects within the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport
Leverage relationships with multiple functions and teams (i.e., External Affairs, Network Underground, Transmission, Renewables, EV/ET etc.) and Utility Services to design engineering solutions to meet our customer’s needs
Provide Technical support, operational assistance and training to region engineers in collaboration with local leadership
Develop presentations to present projects and status updates to management and other partners, as needed.
Support Metro South SERP plan and manage afterhours events for the airport
