PPE Lab Test Specialist

Meridian, MS

This position exists in the Metering Services Department of Distribution. Activities include but are not limited to testing all types of electric utility PPE equipment (gloves, blankets, sleeves, line hose, temporary protective grounds, temporary hot line jumpers, etc), associated data entry, accounting and business system support, activity tracking, material inspection and auditing. Also includes responsibility for implementation of strategic and tactical decisions and processes to maintain compliance in OSHA, SOCO, and ASTM requirements.

This position interfaces with Division Stores, all field operating personnel and respective contacts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Educational Requirements - a high school diploma or GED is required. Incumbent must be computer literate and must possess the ability to adapt to changing computer technology, and reason through complex issues. The employee must also have the ability to work with multiple and changing projects.

Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to work well with others: ability to build and maintain positive relationships with external customers and co-workers. Possess excellent time management, planning, organizational, and leadership skills. Must have the basic concepts of “Principle Center Leadership” and “Southern Style”

Technical skills – Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and maintain a performance of absolute accuracy in both testing and associated documentation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrical and visual testing of all types of electric utility PPE and other devices as directed

Maintain expertise of Code Track System®

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, SOCO, and ASTM requirements

Provide support to the Materials Analyst in PPE inventory

Analyze failure patterns and recommend adjustments of purchasing and inventory accordingly

Provide single point service desk for internal PPE requests.

Provide value add services to external customers and profitability to MPC providing downward pressure on rates

Must possess the confidence to make firm subjective decisions in a variety of testing areas.
